Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico and is an American-Mexican actress. Also, she sings. She was raised by her mother, in the USA. She was subjected to racial taunts and made to feel unwanted. When she was in 9th grade she began to feel more secure after being applauded by her teachers when she sang at the school's audition. It not only increased her confidence, but also her goals were changed. At the age of 22, she received her degree from in the Julliard School of New York. At the age of 23 she started her professional career, making her debut at the Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films featuring You've Got Mail. The most notable accomplishment of her career occurred with her portrayal of The Lady Of The Lake in Spamalot's original Broadway production. Not only did she win the Tony Award, but her performance was also well-received by critics. In the following year, she was cast as the character Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gaining wider fame. In addition to having a cult following as a singer, she released a solo and a longer piece. Also, she is a campaigner and has been active to promote LGBT rights.
